About Public Safety Wellness Network
Police officers, firefighters, EMS crews and dispatchers carry a load most people never see. The resources built for that load — trainers who understand shift work, counselors who understand critical incidents, chaplains, nutritionists, motivational voices — are scattered across websites and social accounts that are hard to find and harder to vet.
Public Safety Wellness Network pulls them into one directory where the community itself does the rating. Every listing can be reviewed by verified members, so recommendations come from peers rather than ads.
How it works
- 1. Anyone can browse and search the directory for free.
- 2. Create an account to rate and review the resources you have used.
- 3. Providers and community members can submit new listings for review.
- 4. Our team approves listings before they appear publicly.
Why I Created Public Safety Wellness Network...

This website was created by Mike Bires, a retired police officer from Southern California. Near the end of his law enforcement career, Mike experienced traumatic events that stayed with him long after the calls were over. Like many first responders, he learned that the uniform may come off at the end of a shift, but the experiences often come home with you.
After retirement, Mike faced another battle—one that nearly cost him his life. A brain tumor was discovered after Cushing’s Disease had taken an enormous toll on his body, leaving him with only weeks to live. The disease had severely damaged his organs, muscles, and bones, beginning a long and painful road to recovery.
During that recovery, Mike came to recognize just how profoundly God had intervened in his life. He also began to recognize what he believes was a calling: to use what he had learned through his career, his struggles, and his recovery to help take care of the people who spend their lives taking care of everyone else.
Mike genuinely cares about the men and women who wear the badge, answer the call, run toward danger, or spend their careers serving others. He understands that underneath the armor of a uniform is a human being—with emotions, vulnerabilities, compassion, families, hopes, fears, and a tremendous sense of responsibility.
And he understands something else: finding the right help can be difficult.
There is no shortage of social media accounts, influencers, organizations, nonprofits, counselors, coaches, and self-proclaimed experts who say they want to help first responders. Many are doing important work. But unfortunately, not everyone who offers help has the firsthand experience, professional credentials, specialized training, or understanding necessary to serve the unique needs of public safety personnel.
For a first responder who is struggling, knowing who to trust can be overwhelming.
That is why Public Safety Wellness Network was created.
This website is intended to be a trusted directory and starting point for first responders and their families to find reputable professionals, organizations, and resources that genuinely understand the public safety profession and are equipped to help those who have dedicated their lives to helping others.
You spent your career taking care of everyone else. You deserve to know where to turn when it’s time for someone to take care of you.
Mike’s hope is simple: that no first responder ever has to navigate that journey alone—and that when they finally reach out for help, they find someone who is qualified, trustworthy, and truly understands.
